We are looking for IT training volunteers

The Digital Skills Academy has been working with unemployed people in Edinburgh, helping them acquire basic digital skills in order to become more job ready. Many of our customers have never used a computer before and we help them remove their fear of technology as well as improve their employment opportunities.

The Digital Skills Academy team are now looking for excellent volunteers to assist them in the delivery of the course material. The programme is based on the online Microsoft Basic Digital Literacy course, which consists of the following modules: Computer Basics, Internet Basics, Internet Job Search, Productivity Programmes (Microsoft Office suite), Computer Security and Privacy and Digital Lifestyles. A Microsoft certificate can be obtained at the end of the modules after sitting a 30 question test.

Volunteers will gain valuable training experience and will build new relationships. This project is being run until the end of September 2013. The time commitment is flexible to fit with the volunteer’s availability.

The course is delivered across 14 venues in Community Education Centres and Libraries in the city of Edinburgh from which volunteers can choose from.
