Use IT
Get started with the basics in small classes in a friendly environment and get the skills and confidence to join the digital world.
Learning digital skills can help people get into the right employment. Our programme teaches basic computer skills for people not in work looking for the skills they need to get online. With Use It they will earn the essential skills to begin computing with confidence, search and apply for jobs and get all the benefits of joining the digital world.
Learn everything from how to switch a computer on and how the keyboard works to sending emails and searching for jobs. We help people to learn in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with individual support from our experienced trainers and our team of volunteers.
Classes are located across Edinburgh including Leith, North Edinburgh, Wester Hailes and Gilmerton. They run on a rolling basis half a day per week for up to 8 weeks. To find the nearest class and to book a place contact us today.
Digital Skills for Work
Get skills to help you find work with online job search skills and get Microsoft certificate to show employers what you can do and progress to work.
Use IT Plus
This course is run in tandem with Use IT and offers intermediate learning in Microsoft Office packages tailored to suit your needs. It covers Word, Excel and Powerpoint. It also covers basic technical skills. We offer our own certificate plus the Microsoft Digital Literacy certificate.
Microsoft Office Specialist
The next step up from Use IT Plus, we offer an advanced Microsoft Office course which provides a Microsoft certification in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook. This runs at the same time as our Use IT classes but learners need to have access to a PC or laptop at home and agree to download software to run the learning materials. Exams will take place at Castlebrae Business Centre. Call us for more information.

We offer FREE IT training courses aimed at young people aged 16-25 interested in getting their foot on the ladder of an IT career. Organised in partnership with Edinburgh College and City of Edinburgh Council, the course offers a CISCO IT Essentials certificate and:
– industry recognised certification
– work placement opportunity
– travel costs
– childcare costs
– EMA for eligible learners
Course content includes a broad range of essential IT subjects including hardware, software, security, troubleshooting and networking.
Recruitment will be through referral followed by assessment interview. It runs 3 days per week over 10 weeks and is based at Castlebrae Business Centre, Craigmillar.

Working with Older People
